India has expressed grief over the tragic death of an Indian crew member on board MT Honor, who reportedly lost his life at the hands of pirates during a counter-piracy operation conducted by the Puntland Maritime Police Force in Somalia.
The Indian High Commission in Kenya said it is in touch with the family of the deceased Indian national and is extending all possible assistance, including arrangements for the repatriation of his mortal remains. It added that all other Indian seafarers on board are reportedly safe, including those aboard MT Sibu 1 and MT Eureka, which were also recently rescued.
The High Commission said it is in close contact with the concerned authorities in Somalia regarding the safety and well-being of the Indian seafarers and their repatriation.
