Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today said 95 percent people have already got the benefit of One Rank One Pension and are happy with it.
Briefing media this afternoon in Panaji, Mr Parrikar said only four to five percent of the retired soldiers have not been drawing benefits of OROP.
He said some of them are very old pensioners from 1962 war, and so records are incomplete. He assured that the process of completing the records will be done in the next two months.
Mr Parrikar also said that he would not like to discuss the OROP issue with ex-soldiers with political leanings or ex-servicemen who had formed political parties.
Over 5,500 crore rupees has been disbursed under the OROP scheme. Giving the details of the OROP implementation so far, Mr Parrikar had earlier tweeted that there were 20 lakh 63 thousand 763 beneficiaries before July 2014.
He said, 19 lakh 12 thousand 520 pensioners have been paid the first instalment and 1 lakh 50 thousand 313 cases are pending verification and authentication of beneficiaries.
