The mega silver jubilee celebrations of ruling Samajwadi Party began in Lucknow today. Former Prime Minister HD Devegowda along with other senior leaders like Lalu Yadav, Sharad Yadav, Ajit Singh, Abhay Chautala and Ram Jethmalani were present on the occasion.

Later welcoming all the dignitaries Shivpal praised Akhilesh and said that he has done an exemplary work. But Shivpal added that he himself contributed a lot as a minister of PWD and irrigation departments.
He also said that he does not want to be chief minister of the state. Without naming anyone, he asked how much sacrifice is expected from him.
RJD cheif Lalu Yadav today severely criticised BJP led central government saying its leadership has done nothing concrete for the benefit of poors and villagers of the country.
Addressing the gathering he said Mr. Modi wants to gag the media. He severely condemned the move of taking NDTV off air for a day saying it shows that days ahead are black for democracy under the present leadership. Lalu said that no major problem will be solved by BJP.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, JDU leader Sharad Yadav said that current dispensation of centre is only creating chaos in the society. He said that BJP only raises sensitive matters which divide the society as they have nothing to contribute for the good of the country.
