The death toll has gone up to more than 200 and many injured in air strikes on a funeral gathering in Yemen’s capital Sanaa. Jamie McGoldrick, the UN humanitarian co-ordinator for Yemen, condemned the horrific attack.

The rebel Houthi-run government said the strikes were carried out by the Saudi-led coalition backing the internationally recognised government of Yemen. However, the coalition has denied the claim.

The attack targeted the funeral of the father of Houthi-appointed Interior Minister Galal al-Rawishan, an ally of the rebels and of former President Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Meanwhile, the United States has said it will review its support for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen. US National Security Council spokesman spokesman Ned Price in a statement said Washington security cooperation with Saudi Arabia is not a blank check.

He said in light of yesterday and other recent incidents, the US has initiated an immediate review and it has significantly reduced support to the Saudi-led Coalition
