The Allahabad High court stayed the arrest of Mohammed Akhlaq’s family. Akhlaq was beaten to death for alleged cow slaughter in Dadri In Uttar Predesh in 2015.
Earlier, Akhlaq’s family moved the court against arrest order.
Earlier Uttar Pradesh police had registered an FIR against Mohammad Akhlaq’s family for cow slaughter. 50-year-old Akhlaq was killed by a mob on 29th September last year on the suspicion that his family stored and consumed beef at their home.
The police action came after Judicial Magistrate Vijay Kumar yesterday ordered to investigate and lodge an FIR for cow slaughter against Akhlaq’s family.
Residents of Bishada village in Dadri were demanding filing of FIR against Akhlaq’s family for alleged cow slaughter.
Jaan Mohammad, brother of Akhlaq, had said the decision of the court has to be respected but the investigation should be fair.
