rajnathHome Minister Rajnath Singh today called for strengthening specialized organizations to face the challenge of terrorists who are using social media for spreading their propaganda. Inaugurating the first Conference of Investigating Agencies in New Delhi today, Mr Singh said, the Centre has established Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center at National Level to deal with all types of cyber crimes.

Mr Singh said, Government was considering legal protection for undercover operation, use of intelligence collected as evidence and entire gamut of issues relevant to combating terrorism. He said that the Government has taken several steps to improve the working of investigating agencies.

He appreciated the work of investigating agencies saying that the forensic laboratories in the country are doing excellent work in scientific investigation. He said, the existing three Central Forensic Science Laboratories will be modernized and three others will be opened in Pune, Bhopal and Guwahati.

Mr Singh said, two new Central Detective Training Schools at Ghaziabad and Jaipur have been opened to impart training on investigation. He said, Government has revamped the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network Systems project for complete computerization of the working of police and extended it to court, jail, prosecution and forensic laboratories.

The Minister said, Government is committed for the empowerment and development of Dalits and there is a need to create the atmosphere where the Dalits can approach police without hesitation. He said, Government is concerned about the crime against women and their safety. He said, to investigate the crime against women, dedicated Investigative Units are being established in 564 districts of the country.

He said, to control crime there is a need to ensure that victims get justice and the criminals are punished without delay. Mr. Singh said, quality of investigation is crucial in ensuring justice for the victims and punishment for the offender.

The Union Home Minister further said, majority of cases are being investigated at Police Station level and the thrust should be on improving investigation there.
