A Lucknow court yesterday convicted three Pakistani nationals, members of a suicide squad of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), after they were arrested with AK rifles and hand grenades in Lucknow in 2007.
Special Judge Om Prakash Mishra held Mirza Rashid Beg, Saifur Rehman and Mohammad Abid alias Fatte guilty on charges including sedition, waging war against the government of India, attempt to murder, unlawful activities and conspiracy.
They were had entered India to kidnap a leading politician so that they could get key JeM militants released from Indian jails. The court has fixed July 14 for argument on the quantum of sentence.
