Bihar Lok Janshakti Party’s Member of Parliament Rama Singh today surrendered before a court in Durg district of Chhattisgarh in connection with a 15 year old case of abduction of a petrol pump owner.

The MP from Vaishali Lok Sabha constituency surrendered before the court of sixth additional district and sessions judge Sanghpushpa Batapahari, who remanded him to seven days police custody. The accused came to surrender following an order from the Supreme Court.

Petrol pump owner and businessman Jaichand Vaidh was abducted in May 2001 when he was returning home. Two years later, police had arrested one of the main accused Upendra Singh and nine others were arrested and convicted in connection with the abduction case. The LJP leader was reportedly absconding.
