An Indian national injured in the attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia has died, taking the total death toll to 13. In a social media post, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh said, the injured Indian national succumbed to his injuries today. The Embassy expressed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and said it was in touch with them to provide all necessary assistance, including the early repatriation of the mortal remains.

According to repors the Indian national who died following the attack on Riyadh Airport was Mohammad Yousuf Ali. He was among the 11 Indian nationals injured in the attack, which also resulted in the deaths of 12 people and injuries to over 300 others.

Acoording to India Today Yusuf and family Umrah pilgrimage to saudi Arabia turned tragic for a Hyderabad-based IT professional and his family after a projectile struck King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on October 10.

Mohammed Yousuf, 46, died from his injuries, while his wife and their three children were injured and are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Riyadh.

“It is learnt that one Indian national injured in the Riyadh attack has unfortunately lost his life today. We convey our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased. We are in touch with the family and will provide all support for ensuring the early repatriation of mortal remains”.

The Embassy also said ten Indians were among around three hundred people injured in the attack that took place yesterday. Indian officials have been in touch with local authorities to enquire about the condition of the injured and have also contacted hospital authorities.

Earlier in the day, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh is taking all necessary steps following the attack on Riyadh airport. 

In view of the current situation, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh reiterated its earlier Advisory for the Indian nationals in Saudi Arabia to remain alert and vigilant and stay indoors as necessary. In an advisory, the Embassy has urged Indian nationals to refrain from circulating or reposting any videos or news related to the ongoing events. They have been asked to follow the instructions issued by local authorities through official channels. 

Meanwhile, New Delhi has strongly condemned the repeated attacks on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport over the past few days, including the dastardly attack of yesterday, which have led to loss of lives, injuries and damage to property. In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said, repeated attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure are completely unacceptable and must cease immediately. It added that India stands in solidarity with the people and the government of Saudi Arabia in defence of their sovereignty, and hopes that peace and normalcy return to the region at the earliest.
