Delhi Police today said that, upon receiving information about the death of the grandmother of CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, officers approached him to convey the news and offered all possible assistance. Briefing the media in New Delhi this afternoon, DCP Neha Yadav said officers repeatedly asked Mr. Dipke whether he wished to speak to his parents, but he declined. She said the CJP’s past conduct reflected a failure to comply with previously given undertakings and directives. DCP Yadav emphasised that permission for the proposed sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar had been denied because the prescribed procedures had not been followed, citing previous non-compliance with laws and guidelines, as well as the prevailing security and law-and-order situation.
