Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has filed a police complaint against comedian Tanmay Bhat for his video which allegedly mocks legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.
The complaint has been filed with Shivaji Park police station. Bhat’s video has also evoked strong reaction from other major political parties in Maharashtra.
Shiv Sena and BJP today demanded action against AIB and Bhat for the video. The Sena asked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take stringent action against AIB and Bhat for allegedly seeking to disrupt social harmony through videos on Mangeshkar and Tendulkar.
Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar spoke to the Police Commissioner and requested that a police complaint be filed against Tanmay Bhat and AIB. MNS had also earlier demanded that the video be removed immediately and also asked people not to forward it. Responding to the strong reactions, Mumbai police have stated that they will check the video footage.
In the video titled “Sachin v/s Lata Civil War”, Tanmay is seen taking jibes at Mangeshkar and Tendulkar.
From the Bollywood fraternity, actors like Anupam Kher, Riteish Deshmukh and Celina Jaitly had yesterday criticised Bhat for the video, calling it as “not funny”. Sachin’s wife Anjali has also criticised the video.
All India Bakchod (AIB) is a comedy outfit, which has landed in controversies earlier too for its videos and show.
