The Government has secured the release of four Indian nationals from Syria. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj informed this in twitter today. Mrs Swaraj had requested Deputy Prime Minister of Syria Walid Al Maoulem for their release during his visit to India in January this year. She thanked Government of Syria for the step and appreciated the Officers who facilitated their journey from Syria to India.
Arun Kumar Saini, Sarvjit Singh, Kuldeep Singh and Joga Singh had entered into Syria from Jordan on their way to Lebanon for employment without valid visas. They were caught by the Syrian authorities as illegal immigrants. Syrian authorities, after making necessary inquiries had conveyed to New Delhi that they can be brought back to India.
