BJP today came down heavily on Uttar Pradesh Minister Azam Khan over his remarks that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim was present during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif in Lahore. Party Secretary Shrikant Sharma asked Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to prove the charges or apologise for the baseless remarks by his minister.
He alleged that Khan’s comments are desperate attempt to hide the failures of Samajwadi Party’s government and divide the people. Mr. Sharma also accused Khan of fomenting riots in Muzaffarnagar saying it was under his pressure that UP police failed to act against molesters in the incident.
Yesterday, government had also rubbished Khan’s allegations terming them as false and baseless. The Prime Minister on way back from Kabul had made an unscheduled stop over in Lahore on 25th of December last year to meet Mr. Sharif.
