Uttar Pradesh Police today filed the chargesheet in the mob lynching of Mohammad Akhlaq in Bishahra village in Dadri. In a breakthrough in the case, the police had arrested four persons on Monday for their alleged involvement in the lynching on September 28.
Sources said that 15 people including one juvenile have been named in the charge sheet. It has been filed three months after the incident in which 50-year old Mohammad Akhlaq was lynched in Dadri’s Bisara village in Greater Noida.
The incident happened after an announcement was made in a temple that Akhlaq had consumed beef and stored some of it in his fridge. However there was no mention of beef in the charge sheet just as there was no mention of it when the FIR was filed in October. Akhlaq’s daughter, Shaista, is one of the key witnesses in the case.
