Soon after the resignation of Partap Singh Bajwa from the presidentship of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, the Congress President Sonia Gandhi has appointed Captain Amrinder Singh as President of Punjab Congress. Captain Amrinder Singh is former Chief Minister of Punjab and he is currently Member Lok Sabha from Amritsar.
He is deputy leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha. He has been appointed President of Punjab Congress for the third time Lal Singh, member of Punjab Assembly has been appointed as senior vice president of Punjab Congress.
Member Parliament Ambika Soni will be Chairperson of the campaign committee for 2017 Punjab assembly election while MLA Sadhu Singh Dharmsot will be vice chairman of campaign committee and M.P Ravneet Singh is new convener of the campaign committee.
