Over 50 killed many injured in Pakistan

A powerful earthquake measuring 7.6 magnitude struck in northeastern Afghanistan today, the US Geological Survey said, sending tremors that were felt in India, Pakistan Afghanistan. Massive tremors lasting almost a minute were reported in Delhi, Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab.
The quake was 196 km deep and centred 82 km southeast of Feyzabad in a remote area of Afghanistan in the Hindu Kush mountain range. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
In India, tremors were all across Northern India around 2.40 pm today. Reports said that there was a massive earthquake in Srinagar.
In National Capital, many people rushed out of their offices and homes. Reports of tremors have also come in from Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi NCR.
In Pakistan at least 52 dead and many other scores injured due to roof and building collapses. Forty minutes after the first earthquake, an aftershock of 4.8 magnitude was reported in the same area. Aftershocks are expected to continue in the affected areas.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked for an urgent assessment of the earth quake which rocked Northern India. In a tweet, Mr Narendra Modi has prayed for everyone’s safety.
Mr Modi assured India’s neighbours that the country stands ready for assistance where ever required, including Afghanistan and Pakistan where strong tremors were felt.
