ALIGARH : The Aligarh Muslim University, AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah today said that any attempt to disturb academic activities in the campus following killing of a student would not be tolerated. He said that the mischievous elements tried to collect a mob at his residence and create and vitiate the atmosphere of campus.
A group of students, taking advantage of the sad demise of Alamgir, a final year student of Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), tried to create a chaos at the campus by circulating a message on Whats App.
Taking a serious note of this message spread by the mischievous elements, the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah, said that such attempts would not be allowed to succeed and force the administration to close the University sine die. He said that the mischievous elements tried to collect a mob at his residence and create and vitiate the atmosphere.
The Vice Chancellor said, “We are determined that the University continues to function in a normal manner. Any sine die closure at this juncture would totally be against the interests of the institution”.
The members of the teaching community are by and large aware of the “sinister designs” of those elements who are trying to destabilize the institution, according to the Vice Chancellor.
The Vice Chancellor said that a large number of teachers arrived at his house this afternoon and expressed their solidarity in helping him in facing the present challenge. The Vice Chancellor said that he held discussions with senior district officials to chalk out a plan for implementing all precautionary measures and tightening the security at the campus.
The Vice Chancellor said that the deceased was a studious student of the University and he was determined to trace the culprits of yesterday’s ghastly murder and would spare no efforts in ensuring that justice is meted out in this case.
The Vice Chancellor offered his condolences to the victim’s family and fully shared their grief on this tragic loss. He prayed that the deceased student’s soul may rest in peace.
