The Calcutta High Court today rejected bail plea of the West Bengal Minister Mr. Madan Mitra on Saradha Chit Fund Scam. Senior advocate and Congress leader Kapil Sibbal prayed before a Division Bench of the High Court of Justices Nishita Mhatra and Asha Arora for the bail and said that Mr. Mitra is ready to resign as a Minister if he is granted bail.
CBI lawyer opposed the bail petition contending that Mr. Mitra is a Minister of the State and he may influence the probe if bail is granted to him. Earlier his bail prayers were also rejected by District Courts. Mr. Mitra is in judicial remand since his arrest by CBI on the scam on December last year.
