According to reports published by various media outlets in Bangladesh, more than 2,000 tourists stranded in Sajek Valley were safely evacuated by the Army and police today amid a road blockade and reports of gunfire in Rangamati district. The blockade disrupted traffic between Dighinala in Khagrachhari and Sajek after protesters set fire to tyres and stopped a security convoy near Ujjobazar.

Security personnel held discussions with protesters for several hours before clearing the barricade and escorting tourists to safety. Five army personnel and two police officers were reportedly injured. The Rangamati administration has suspended tourist visits to Sajek until further notice, citing security concerns.
