The West Bengal government has set up a six-member committee to investigate the Chorbagan incident. The committee will be headed by retired Calcutta High Court judge, Anindita Roy Saraswati.

The order was issued on Wednesday by Chief Secretary Manoj Agarwal, following consultations with the Calcutta High Court.

The committee includes senior officials from the Disaster Management and Civil Defence Department, the Special Task Force, the state police, the Home and Hill Affairs Department, and the National Disaster Response Force, or NDRF. The panel has been asked to submit its report to the state government within three months.
