A fire broke out at King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia’s capital on Sunday after an unidentified projectile struck Passenger Terminal 4, prompting an emergency response and safety inspections, according to Arab News.

The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen said authorities were responding to the incident. Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority later confirmed that the attack had caused injuries, while damage assessments and safety checks were being carried out at airport facilities.

The coalition also reported that air defence systems had intercepted and destroyed a cruise missile in the vicinity of the airport. Officials were assessing the extent of the damage and the impact on airport operations.

The incident came a day after a separate missile attack on Saturday reportedly killed 13 people and wounded more than 300, raising further concerns over regional security and the potential threat to civilian infrastructure.

The circumstances surrounding Sunday’s projectile strike, including its origin and the extent of the damage, were not immediately clear from the available report.

Meanwhile Former Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa called for an immediate meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Riyadh to affirm Arab solidarity with Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf following Houthi attacks on the Kingdom.

Moussa said Saudi Arabia was facing attacks on its sovereignty and security that amounted to a direct threat to Arab security.

He said the Kingdom’s security and sovereignty were a “red line,” arguing that attacks against it should be met with more than statements of condemnation and solidarity.
