Bangladesh’s national carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines, has signed an agreement with Boeing to purchase 11 new aircraft, thereby planning to expand its aviation sector and open new international routes.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s Adviser Mahdi Amin, addressing a press conference in New York said the agreement was signed in the presence of senior US officials, including Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau.
Mr. Amin said the purchase was based on Bangladesh’s expanding aviation needs and plans to introduce new routes. He added that Bangladesh has a longstanding commercial relationship with Boeing and may also hold discussions with Airbus in the future. The adviser said a Boeing delegation later met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
