The Council of the League of Arab States has issued a strong condemnation of what it described as Iran’s deliberate and unprovoked attacks on several Arab countries, warning that the strikes threaten regional stability and international security.
In a virtual meeting chaired by the Foreign Minister of Bahrain, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Arab Foreign Ministers condemned attacks targeting Jordan, the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and Iraq. The Council said the strikes hit residential areas, vital infrastructure, diplomatic missions and hotels, calling them a flagrant aggression against state sovereignty and a threat to civilian populations.
The Ministers affirmed the right of affected states to defend themselves individually or collectively and expressed full solidarity with the targeted countries. The Council also praised the readiness of regional armed forces and air defence systems, expressing confidence in their ability to repel further attacks.
The Arab League further condemned Iran’s threats to close the Strait of Hormuz and disrupt navigation in the Bab al-Mandab, warning that such actions could threaten global energy supplies and international trade. It urged Iran to comply with UN Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026 and immediately cease all forms of aggression.
The Council also called on Iran to halt support for armed groups in Arab countries, describing such actions as a serious threat to regional security. In Lebanon, the ministers backed the country’s sovereignty and welcomed the Lebanese cabinet’s March 2 decision to ban all security and military activities of Hezbollah, restricting the group to political activity. The Council also reiterated support for a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue and called for renewed international efforts to achieve lasting regional peace.
