The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Saturday strongly condemned what it described as unilateral military attacks carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran, calling them a grave violation of international law and the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter.
In a statement, the party termed the strikes “reckless military adventurism” that could further destabilise the already volatile West Asian region. The CPI warned that such actions risk pushing the region towards a wider and more destructive conflict, exacerbating instability and human suffering.
The party alleged that the attacks form part of a broader strategy aimed at imposing regime change in Iran through military force, disregarding national sovereignty and the right of people to determine their own political future. It demanded an immediate and unconditional halt to what it called ongoing military aggression and urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to intervene urgently to prevent further escalation and safeguard regional peace.
The CPI also called upon the Government of India to categorically condemn the strikes. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Israel, the party said he should speak out against what it described as dangerous militarism.
The statement further stressed that India must not be complicit in any action that violates international law or endangers regional and global peace. It urged the government to ensure the safety of Indian citizens residing in Iran and to safeguard India’s longstanding bilateral ties with Tehran, including crucial trade and investment relations that serve the country’s strategic and economic interests.
