India has acknowledged the verdict delivered by the International Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh against former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said India “has noted” the development and reiterated its commitment to the welfare and democratic stability of Bangladesh.
“As a close neighbour, India remains committed to the best interests of the people of Bangladesh, including in peace, democracy, inclusion and stability,” the statement said. It added that New Delhi will “always engage constructively with all stakeholders” to support these objectives.
The response comes amid heightened political tensions in Bangladesh following the tribunal’s ruling. India has emphasised that its approach will remain focused on regional stability and the well-being of Bangladeshi citizens.
