Bangladesh’s Legal Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul on Saturday dismissed speculation about a “safe exit” for members of Bangladesh’s interim government, saying what the nation really needs is freedom from its “dreadful state structure.”
Speaking at a national consultation on the National Human Rights Commission Ordinance 2025 in Dhaka, Nazrul said, “There is a lot of discussion about a safe exit at present. We, as advisers, are certain that none of us needs any safe exit. What we truly need is a safe exit from this horrific, diseased, self-destructive state structure.”
He also pointed to decades of “misrule, extrajudicial killings, and banks looting ordinary people’s deposits.”
Advisers Adilur Rahman Khan and Syeda Rizwana Hasan, along with Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman and Bar Association President Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, attended the event with representatives of international organisations.
