The order for a preliminary enquiry was issued by Andhra Pradesh High Court to find out whether he owns assets disproportionate to his income. The order was challenged by Jagan Mohan in the Apex court.
After hearing his appeal, a bench of justices Dalveer Bhandari and Deepak Verma of the Supreme court said the high court order is only for a preliminary enquiry and at this stage no interference is required.
The bench said the High Court can refuse to proceed against him if nothing substantial comes out against him in the probe.
The bench, however, asked the High Court to give a copy of the CBI probe report to Jagan if it decides to proceed against him on the basis of the agency’s findings.
