293 candidates are in the fray. Over 93 lakh 51 thousand voters are eligible to exercise their franchise. Polling has been peaceful so far and tight security arrangements are in place for the voting.
Chief Electoral Officer Sunil Gupta told media that 53 Electronic Voting Machines have been replaced due to technical snag. Boycott of votes were also reported from 19 polling booths in districts on local issues.
