Speaking at a function here after presenting the National Geosciences Awards 2009, Mr Ansari said geosciences should be central to our energy and climate change policies. He said geoscientists can help us to monitor earth processes, undertake risk assessments and be better prepared for tackling natural and even man-made disasters. Mr Ansari stressed on the need to develop our scientific human resources to meet the demand in terms of numbers and breadth of scientific disciplines.
Mr Ansari presented lifetime achievement award to Prof Ashok Sahni for popularising science among school children.
