MUMBAI: (AMN) In its renewed attack on Muslims, the Bal Thakery led Shiv Sena has demanded ban on Burqa, the veil Muslim women wear.
In an editorial in party’s mouth piece ‘Saamana’ the Sena praised the French government decision to ban ‘burqas’ and other full-body robes worn by Muslim women saying the French President had taken a ‘revolutionary step’ by banning the burqa.
"When burqa was banned in Turkey by Kemal Pasha, Islam did not come in between. Why only is it so in India?" it said.
The party said that if the burqa is used to steal children, then we demand that it be banned as per law.
A two-month-old baby boy was kidnapped on October 15 allegedly by an anonymous burqa-clad woman from a civic-run hospital in suburban Santacruz.
