PATNA: A high powered team of election commission headed by Chief Election Commissioner S. Y. Quraishi is on a two day visit to the state. The team would review the poll preparedness for state Assembly elections.


The team would take stock of the arrangements being made for the smooth conduct of six- phase poll in the state.


This is the first visit of the full election commission to the state after dates for the Assembly elections were announced. The Commission will hold discussions with the District Magistrates, SPs, DIG and IGs of the state. The commission will also meet the representatives of various political parties on the poll related issues.


Earlier, leaders of different political parties had requested the Chief Election Commissioner, S Y Quraishi to deploy central Para military forces on every booth, to ensure free and fair polls.


For the first time the election Commission is setting up a monitoring division headed by a senior official to check the use of money power during the poll process. The six phase poll for 243 seats begins from 21st of next month and concludes on 20th of November. Votes will be counted on November 24
