Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Thursday launched famous organic Queen Pineapple produced in Tripura at a programme held in Delhi. Tripura’s Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratanlal Nath was also present in this programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Tomar said that development of the north east is the priority of Narendra Modi-led Government, and the Centre is consistently working for this region. He said what gives happiness is that due to continuous encouragement by the Prime Minister, Tripura, as well as other north-eastern states are making fast-paced progress.
The Union Minister said that northeast is the sconce, which was earlier neglected, as there was less budgetary allocation to this region. However, after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister due attention was given toward the region. Mr. Tomar said in last nine years, Prime Minister Modi has visited the north-eastern region 52 times. Not only that on PM’s direction, other central ministers is also visiting northeastern states regularly; to resolve issues pertaining to the region.
Minister Tomar said that Ministry of DoNER plays an active role and is engaged in implementing the projects for development of the region. He further said that this region has achieved huge success in organic farming. He added that Sikkim has already being declared an organic state and Tripura too is heading on the same path, which is complimentary.
