Voting for the Karnataka Assembly elections is underway. A voter turnout of 37.25 percent was recorded till 1:00 PM. The highest of 49.13 percent polling was reported from Karkala assembly segment in Udupi district and the lowest of 24.52 percent in C V Raman Nagar constituency in Bengaluru. Polling began at 7 a.m., and will continue till 6 p.m. A total of 2,615 candidates are in fray for 224 assembly constituencies. Voting is being held at 58 thousand 545 polling stations.

Except for EVM snags at a few places and minor altercations between party functionaries, the voting is going on peacefully. Film actors Shivarajkumar, Ramesh Arvind, Ganesh, Dunya Vijay, Tara, Shruthi, Sapthami Gowda, cricketer Javagal Srinath, Infosys founder Narayan Murthy and his wife Sudha Murthy, Mysore royal family descendent Pramoda Devi, political leaders Devegowda, CM Basavaraj Bommai, Congress leaders Siddaramaiah and D K Shivakumar were among those who cast their vote. Irrespective of age, gender and social strata, all those eligible were seen exercising their franchise. The pink booths, ethnic booths and theme based booths grabbed everybody’s attention.
