The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has advised the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra to keep hoisted the distant cautionary signal number one as the depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal (BoB) and adjoining area intensified into a deep depression. It is likely to intensify further and move in a North-Northwesterly direction till May 11 after which it is likely to recurve gradually and move North-Northeastwards. 

It has advised all fishing boats and trawlers over north bay and deep sea to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution. They have also been advised not to proceed into the deep sea.

BMD in its latest bulletin issued at 8.30 in the morning on Wednesday said that the deep depression over the Southeast BoB was situated 1550 kilometers south of Chattogram port, 1470 km South of Cox’s Bazar port, 1550 km South-Southeast of Mongla port and 1505 km South South East of Payra port. 

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its bulletin on Tuesday night said that the cyclone is likely to cross Southeast Bangladesh and North Myanmar coasts between Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh and Kyaukpyu in Myanmar around 12 noon of 14th May.
