At least 24 people, including three children and 10 women, were killed and 39 others injured in a bus accident in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday.
The bus heading towards Indore fell off after breaking through the railing of the bridge on Borad river bridge near Dongargaon, about 34km from the district headquarters.
The injured passengers have been admitted to the various hospitals in Khargone and Indore.
Madhya Pradesh government has announced immediate financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased, Rs 50 thousand each to the seriously injured and Rs 25 thousand each to those who received minor injuries.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased from PMNRF. The injured would be given Rs 50 thousand each, the PMO’s office tweeted.
The state government has suspended the RTO of Khargone and ordered an inquiry into the accident.
