Bangladesh government will provide Covid vaccine to children above the age of 12 and booster doses to people above the age of 40. Health Minister Zahid Maleque told media in Dhaka on Sunday that earlier school children above 12 were provided covid vaccines but now it will be provided to all children above the age of 12. The government has also decided to allow booster doses for people above the age of 40.

The minister said that Bangladesh has 90 million doses of vaccine in stock to provide vaccination to an additional number of people. He said that the government has provided a record 32.4 million vaccines in the current month. Till now over 15 crore vaccines have been provided to people in Bangladesh.

The government has decided to provide the Johnson and Johnson vaccine to the floating population including day labourers as only one dose of this vaccine is required to be given, reports UNB.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh reported 34 deaths on Sunday which is the highest number of deaths in a single day since Sept. 22, last year. But the positivity rate declined to 28.33 percent on Sunday from 31.10 percent a day earlier. A total of 12,183 new cases were detected during the same period.
