Joint Secretary in the Health Ministry, Lav Agarwal today reiterated the five-fold strategy of test, track, treat, vaccination and, Covid-appropriate behaviour to curb the spread of the COVID-19. In an interaction on Twitter about Home Isolation amid rise in Omicron cases, Mr Agarwal said, while government is taking its own efforts in terms of management of COVID-19, people’s cooperation is very important to fight the pandemic. He added that vaccine remains to be a very important tool coupled with COVID appropriate behavior, which is primarily the mantra of wearing mask properly and focusing on hand hygiene.

He said the Omicron appears to be highly transmissible but there is a much lesser hospitalization rate as most of the cases are mild and they may required home isolation. He stressed the need to ensure that the home isolation guidelines are known to everyone. The Joint Secretary also highlighted the need to follow the authentic information in terms of understanding the disease, saying everyone needs to become more focused and responsible in terms of following COVID appropriate behavior because the infection cannot spread on its own. He added that infection can only spread if we confine in close proximity with people.
