Gujarat government is fully equipped to start anti-Covid-19 vaccination. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel reviewed the preparation for vaccination programme in a Core Committee meeting held in Gandhinagar yesterday. Gujarat has a storage capacity of more than 1 crore doses of vaccine.

There are 27934 vaccine sites and 2236 cold chain points have been set up for the vaccine programme in the state. 17,128 trained vaccinators will remain on duty along with more than 2 lakh government employees and workers of NGOs. 4 lakh 33 thousand health care workers have been identified for the first phase of vaccination.

After that, 3 lakh 47 thousand front line workers will get the vaccine on priority basis. 1 crore 6 lakh people with more than 50 years of age and 2 lakh 71 thousand people below 50 years with comorbidity will also get the vaccine in the first phase. Meanwhile, 675 new cases of Covid19 have been recorded in Gujarat during the last 24 hours. At present, the state has 8149 active cases. The recovery rate has reached up to 95.01 percent.
