Delhi government has reportedly suggested the central government that buses, metro, autos, taxis be allowed to operate in the city with strict social-distancing norms post May 17.

While submitting a proposal to the Centre on lockdown relaxations, Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government appealed to the Centre that shops in markets, shopping complexes, malls be allowed to open and the outlets engaged in non-essential items in the malls and complexes should be allowed to operate on odd-even basis, according to sources.

While laying down the list of relaxations the Delhi administration wants during lockdown 4.0, the Kejriwal government urged the Centre that the movement of labourers be allowed within the city and construction activities be also resumed.

Earlier today, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Kejriwal met officials and discussed suggestions received on lifting of coronavirus lockdown post May 17.

Kejriwal had sought suggestions from Delhiites on lockdown relaxations on May 12. While addressing an online press meeting, the Delhi CM claimed of receiving five lakh suggestions from the public for the relaxations in lockdown 4.0.

“Different activities will be allowed in Delhi from Monday based on Centre’s decisions on lockdown relaxation. But, it is sure that we have to follow social-distancing strictly” Kejriwal said.
