Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has said that architects should promote eco-friendly green buildings which use less water and optimize energy. He visited the College of Architecture and Sculpture at Mamallapuram near Chennai today.

In his interaction with the students, he said, architects should take full advantage of digital technology to build smart buildings.

He asked them to adopt the Energy Conservation Building Code developed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency for greener buildings. He said, it would help promote energy-efficient buildings.

Mr Naidu stressed that there is a need to amalgamate tradition and technology in the construction industry and work towards sustainable development. He said, it should be ensured that rural areas are not turned into concrete jungles.

He remarked that architects and city planners should uphold India’s culture and protect nature for a better future.
