BJP today hit out at Congress for being sceptical about US President Donald Trump’s visit to India. Briefing media here today party spokesperson Sambit Patra accused the opposition party of being unhappy of the visit and questioned why the Congress is not happy when the country’s stature is being raised globally.
Mr. Patra said Trump’s visit will be a landmark moment in the Indo-US relationship and advised the Congress to start taking pride in the nation’s achievements. Underlining that Trump himself has said multiple times that India is a hard bargainer, Mr. Patra said the Congress should not be worried about India’s interests.
Earlier, Congress said that the country should not become an extension of the US presidential election campaign but yield concrete results for India. Senior party leader Anand Sharma had also raised objections over what he called extravaganza being carried out at the Motera Stadium in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad in the name of the visit.
