In Jammu & Kashmir, three Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were killed in a counter- terrorist operation by the security forces in Bijbehara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district late last night.
Director General Police Dilbagh Singh told AIR News that the terrorists have been identified as Nasir Chadroo- Commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen Group and Javaid Ahmad. Identity of the third slain terrorist is being ascertained. Mr Singh added that the trio were involved in several terror-related activities. DGP said one soldier sustained bullet injury in his leg and is recuperating in the hospital.
AIR correspondent reports that a joint team of security forces launched the operation on the basis of specific information about the presence of terrorists in Pazalpora Bijbehara area. Three Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were killed in the encounter. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site. Today’s gunfight was the 2nd in South Kashmir area after the abrogation of Article 370. Since then, a total of six militants including two Pakistanis were killed in four separate encounters in Kawani Awantipora, Gangbal Ganderbal, Baramulla and Sopore areas.
