The National Investigation Agency, NIA, has arrested two persons from Nagappattinam in Tamil Nadu on charges of conspiring and preparing to wage war against the Union Government.

They will be produced before a special NIA court in Chennai today.

The action follows the raids conducted by the NIA yesterday at the residences of one Syed Mohammed Bukhari in Chennai and of Hasan Ali and Harish Mohamed in Nagappattinam.

They were booked under various sections for allegedly forming a terrorist group called Ansarulla.

They were also suspected to have conspired to collect money and launch terror attacks at various locations in the country.

Several electronic gadgets and printed literature promoting jihadist attacks were seized.

Based on further screening of the incriminating documents and questioning of the three persons, the two from Nagappattinam were arrested today.
