Four army men, including an officer and a civilian were killed and a soldier wounded in a gunfight in Pinglena area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday, reports AIR.
Security sources said, a cordon and search operation was launched by a joint team of the forces in Pinglina area in the wee hours following inputs about the presence of terrorists there.

As the forces zeroed in, the hiding terrorists fired upon the forces triggering a gunfight. The sources said, two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area, and they could be Jaish-e-Mohammed cadres. The gunfight was on, when reports last came in.
As the joint team of forces intensified the searches and fired some warning shots towards the suspected spot, the militants opened fire triggering off a gunfight, he said.
According to reports during the course of the gunfight, four army soldiers including a Major were killed. Those who lost their life including Major DS Dondial, Head Constable Seva Ram, Sepoy Ajay Kumar and Sepoy Hari Singh.
The critically injured army man, identified as Sepoy Gulzar Mohd, was evacuated to army’s 92 base hospital Badamibagh Srinagar for treatment, he said.
Searches were going on in the area to trace the militants.
