Noted director Shaji N Karun’s latest Malayalam feature film “Olu” and Aditya Suhas Jambhale Marathi short film “Kharvas” will open the prestigious Indian Panorama section of the 49th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), to be held in Goa during November 20-28.
Hindi films “Padmaavat”, “Tiger Zinda Hai” and “Raazi” and Telugu biopic of the late superstar Savitri, titled “Mahanati” represents the Mainstream section within the Indian Panorama.
Some of the notable selections are Jayaraj’s Malayalam film “Bhayanakam”, Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Malayalam satire “Ee Maa Yove”, superstar Mammooty-starrer Tamil film “Peranbu” and singer Arijit Singh’s directorial debut “Sa” in Bengali.
The Indian Panorama feature and non-feature selections, chosen by juries headed by veteran Rahul Rawail and Vinod Ganatra respectively, were announced on Wednesday. Out of the feature film selections, two each will represent India in the International Competition and Debut film competitions, while one will be chosen for competition in the ICFT-UNESCO prize.
The four Mainstream films were selected by an Internal Committee of the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF) based on the recommendations of Film Federation of India (FFI) and the Film Producers Guild.
