A high level official team from the Central Election Commission of India will be in Hyderabad to assess the preparedness for conducting the assembly elections in Telangana. The Team headed by Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Sinha is scheduled to hold discussions with political parties and senior officials before submitting a report to the Election Commission over the preparedness of the state. The team will have separate meetings with the representatives of nine recognized political parties this evening.

Following the premature dissolution of the Telangana State Assembly, the preparation for the early elections in the state has gained momentum. Besides, Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar briefed Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat in Delhi yesterday about the preparedness of the state. The Election Commission of India is sending a high level team of officials headed by Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Sinha.

The team is likely to meet senior officials of the state including the State Chief Secretary and representative of the various political parties to obtain their views about holding the elections, electoral rolls and related issues.

The Commission has already sent letters to nine recognised political parties to send their representatives and allocated to each party ten to fifteen minutes. The election Commission is likely to come to a decision on when to hold the assembly elections in Telangana after receiving the report from the high level team.
