At least 15 persons were killed and nine injured in dust storm, rain and lightning related incidents last night. Maximum 7 casualties are reported from Moradabad followed by three in Sambhal, two each in Muzaffarnagar and Meerut and one in Amroha district.
Most of the deaths were caused due to falling of trees and wall collapse. Vehicular traffic was affected on different highways due to falling of trees on roads in several districts of western region of the state. Power supply and communications system have been disrupted. State government has directed for providing financial assistance to the affected families and medical assistance to injured on priority basis.
