At least 85 people have been killed and many injured due to Thunderstorm, rain and hail storm in different parts of western and northern parts of India last evening.

In Uttar Pradesh, at least forty nine people were killed and forty were injured. Agra district was worst hit with maximum 36 deaths.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to personally monitor relief work and provide medical aid to the affected. He has asked them to conduct the survey on priority basis and asses the loss of the farmers.

In Rajasthan, the death toll has risen to 32 in storm related incidents. Over 200 people are injured while more than 100 of the livestock killed.

Bharatpur, Dholpur and Alwar districts are the worst affected, where basic amenities like electricity and water supply have been badly hit after uprooting of trees and damage to the electricity polls and transformers. The deaths have been reported from Bharatpur, Dholpur, Alwar and Jhunjunu.

Normal life was also disrupted in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and the National Capital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed sadness on the loss of lives due to dust storms.

Mr Modi has asked officials to coordinate with the state governments and work towards assisting those who have been affected.

Mr Modi expressed his condolences to the bereaved families. He hoped that the injured will recover soon.

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed sadness on the loss of lives due to dust storms in various parts of India.

In his message, Mr Kovind said, authorities are taking steps to help affected people.
