In Karnataka, the Special Investigation Team SIT probing the killing of journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh has taken a suspect into custody. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Bengaluru West) MN Anucheth, who is the investigating officer in the case, said KT Naveen Kumar was taken into custody for eight days.
He said the suspect was already in judicial remand in another case. Police wanted to question him further and moved a local court which granted an eight-day custody yesterday. Gauri Lankesh was shot dead by unknown assailants at her residence in Bengaluru in September last year.
