AMN / NEW DELHI
India today said, its position on the Dalai Lama is clear and consistent. Replying to a media query, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, the Dalai Lama is a revered religious leader and is deeply respected by the people of India. Mr Kumar said, the Dalai Lama has all freedom to carry out his religious activities in India.
The clarification came after an English Daily today reported that the government has asked senior leaders and functionaries of the Centre and the states to stay away from upcoming events planned by the Tibetan leadership in India to mark the start of 60 years in exile of the Dalai Lama.
